Ferrari’s final front-engined icon
Unveiled in 1968, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, more famously known as the Daytona, marked the end of an era. For over two decades, it stood as Maranello’s last great front-engined grand tourer, a bold expression of power and elegance that closed a legendary chapter in Ferrari’s history.
Penned by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the Daytona’s shark-nosed silhouette was as revolutionary as it was aggressive. Beneath the bonnet lay a 4.3-litre V12 engine producing a formidable 352 bhp, enough to dethrone the Lamborghini Miura P400 as the world’s fastest production car at the time.
The example featured here, a European-specification Daytona Berlinetta, was completed in March 1972 and delivered new to Auto Becker in Düsseldorf. Finished in Rosso Chiaro over black Connolly leather, it is one of just 1,105 left-hand-drive examples produced. Notable features include centre-lock Cromodora wheels and an early dashboard-integrated air conditioning system.
