Air|Water

The third annual Air|Water event has once again cemented its place as a must-attend gathering for Porsche enthusiasts. Held on in late April in Costa Mesa, California, the event brought together fans, collectors and industry partners for a day that celebrated the marque’s rich heritage, despite a few passing showers.

Mobil 1, the main sponsor of the event, curated a stunning display of historically significant vehicles across the expansive 150-acre venue. Among the highlights were the eye-catching Troy Lee Design-liveried 2024 992 GT3 Cup and the 2011 997 GT3 RSR, both standout favourites.

Centre stage was reserved for a true motorsport legend: the 1985 McLaren MP4/2B, powered by the iconic 1.5-litre V6 turbo Porsche-TAG engine. This very car carried Alain Prost to his first Formula 1 World Championship, triumphing over teammate Niki Lauda with five wins that season. The amphitheatre display, flanked by turbocharged Porsche 930 and 959 models, transported visitors straight back to the golden era of ’80s turbo racing.

Art and car culture collided at the Joshua Vides installation, developed in collaboration with Creative Director Jeff Zwart. Vides’ signature black-and-white aesthetic transformed a Porsche 911 into a rolling canvas, paired with a modern 911 ST to explore the duality of Air and Water themes.
