Lancia Stratos by Benedict Radcliffe
The Lancia Stratos HF is a true legend in the world of rally cars, produced between 1973 and 1978 to meet the homologation requirements for the World Rally Championship. With its radical design by Bertone and a Ferrari Dino-derived V6 engine, the Stratos HF was built for competition, with only around 492 units ever made. This iconic car clinched three consecutive World Rally Championships from 1974 to 1976, and also triumphed in the 1974 Targa Florio, the Tour de France Automobile five times, and the Giro d'Italia automobilistico three times.
In a stunning tribute to this automotive icon, renowned artist Benedict Radcliffe has created a hand-made wire frame sculpture that captures the essence of the Marcello Gandini-designed Lancia Stratos. This sculpture was a collaboration with Italian streetwear brand IUTER to celebrate their FW20 ‘Vita Veloce’ collection and was first exhibited in Milan in June 2021. Since then, it has been housed at the Youth SRL Headquarters in Milan.
Crafted to a 1:1 scale using striking yellow mild steel tubes, the sculpture highlights the Stratos' iconic wedge styling and sleek racing proportions. Each element was meticulously measured, shaped, and welded by hand by Radcliffe. This Lancia Stratos HF (Tipo 829) sculpture by Benedict Radcliffe recently sold via Collecting Cars.
