Audi reveals its F1 challenger
Audi has pulled the covers off its R26 Concept, giving fans a first look at the design language that will define its entry into Formula 1. With just over 100 days to go before its debut race, the concept sets the tone for Audi’s arrival at the pinnacle of motorsport.
The R26 previews the visual identity of Audi’s first F1 car – clean, technical and unmistakably Audi. The design is built around minimalist surfaces and precision geometry, finished in a palette of titanium, carbon black and Audi red. In a striking move, the brand’s famous rings will appear in red, used exclusively for its Formula 1 presence.
Audi’s creative chief Massimo Frascella describes the R26 as a statement of intent: “This project pioneers our new design language, uniting everything from race cars to road cars under one clear vision.” Behind the design is a much bigger story. CEO Gernot Döllner sees Formula 1 as a catalyst for change within the company: “We’re not entering just to take part – we want to win. F1 will make Audi leaner, faster and more innovative.”
The Audi F1 team will be based on the Sauber Group, now fully acquired, with a powertrain developed in Neuburg, Germany. Drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will take the wheel when the team lines up for its first race in Melbourne, March 2026.
