Urban Outlaw Starter Kit

Auction house RM Sotheby's has teamed up with Magnus Walker to present The Magnus Walker Collection, a curated selection drawn from one of the most recognisable private Porsche collections in the world. Alongside several cars from Walker’s personal garage sits a wide-ranging trove of parts, memorabilia and workshop artefacts gathered over decades. Together they paint a deeply personal portrait of a collector and builder whose relationship with Porsche has always been rooted in the joy of driving and the authenticity of the experience behind the wheel.

Among the most intriguing lots is something Walker fans will instantly appreciate: a 1968 Porsche 911 L Urban Outlaw Starter Kit. At its core is a German-delivered 911 L coupé, completed on 19 July 1967 and originally supplied to Wenningstedt on the island of Sylt. The car left the factory in bright Bahama Yellow, though today the surviving panels wear a mix of honest patina and bare metal, perfect fodder for a characterful build.

Included in the package are a number of body components from Walker’s own stash: a rear engine lid, spare bonnet, right rear wing, rear body panel and a fibreglass 911 S front bumper. Restore it, repaint it, or lean into the mismatched panels and build something unapologetically raw. Mechanical highlights include a desirable 2.0-litre 901/10 911 S engine paired with a rare early 901/2 five-speed gearbox. The engine arrives without its original fuel injection, leaving the next owner free to run injection or carburettors as part of the build.

Inside, the starter kit continues with a replacement dashboard, an early Scheel bucket seat, perforated floor footrests and 911 R-style louvred quarter windows. A set of Minilite wheels, brake discs and Bilstein shocks are also included to help move the project along.

Walker himself hardly needs an introduction. A serial entrepreneur, fashion designer, property developer and motivational speaker, he has become one of the most influential Porsche enthusiasts of his generation. He’s become known for disruptive, sport-purpose builds that celebrate the visceral qualities that make a great driver’s car. Which makes this unusual lot feel entirely fitting: part project car, part time capsule, and a rare opportunity to start your own outlaw 911 build with parts and provenance straight from the Urban Outlaw’s world. Some assembly definitely required.
