The Camel Collection
The Camel Collection brings together two unforgettable V12 Lamborghinis from motorsport’s most flamboyant era, one forged for the Formula 1 grid, the other for the road.
Up first is the 1990 Lamborghini-Lotus Type 102, the only Lotus F1 car ever powered by a V12. Developed after Formula 1’s move away from turbocharging, Lamborghini’s 3.5 litre naturally aspirated engine drew directly on the marque’s road-car expertise, delivering a heady 640 bhp soundtrack to match its striking looks. Campaigned during the 1990 season by Derek Warwick, Martin Donnelly and Johnny Herbert, chassis 102/2 competed in six Grands Prix, with a best finish of eighth at Imola, and appeared at Monaco.
Recently restored and recommissioned by Lamborghini Polo Storico, the car remains fully operational, complete with period documentation, spares and support. It stands as a rare survivor from the final era of manual gearboxes and screaming V12s. Its cultural cachet only grew when it featured prominently in the opening scenes of the 2025 F1 movie, chosen as much for its iconic Camel livery as its unmistakable sound.
Completing the pairing is a 1985 Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV, the only right-hand-drive example finished in Giallo from new. Delivered via Portman Lamborghini and owned by a single custodian for nearly three decades, this car carries serious period provenance, including a famous Autocar cover feature and appearances in definitive Countach literature. Recently recommissioned and repainted in its original yellow, it now mirrors the F1 car’s Camel-inspired livery.
Together, the Camel Collection captures the peak of late-80s and early-90s excess: two V12 Lamborghinis, one for the circuit and one for the road, united by colour, character and an era when racing cars and supercars were as dramatic as they were beautiful. The Camel Collection is currently available from Furlonger Specialist Cars in the UK.
