French Revolution: Part 1
To mark 55 years of the original four-cylinder A310 and 50 years of the V6, Alpine has gone back to one of its most distinctive shapes and imagined where it might have gone next. The result is the A310 VISION, a one-off concept that trades nostalgia for a decidedly retro-futuristic take on the French sports car.
Created by Alpine’s design teams, the concept takes the low, wide and geometric character of the seventies original and stretches it into something altogether more dramatic. At just over four and a half metres long, just 1.18 metres high and over two metres wide at the rear, it sits low and purposeful on distinctive A-shaped wheels inspired by the early A310.
The details are pure concept car theatre. Pop-down headlights are hidden within the front bodywork, an S-duct cuts into the bonnet, while a central “Y zero” blade draws the eye towards the rear. A split rear wing and blade-shaped lights add further aerodynamic drama, with a semi-transparent cabin revealing an equally expressive interior.
The A310 VISION also showcases the creative possibilities of Alpine’s new APP platform, allowing designers to explore proportions and volumes beyond the constraints of conventional sports car architecture.
It isn't a preview of the next A310, but something arguably more interesting: a design studio asking what one of Alpine’s greatest shapes might look like if the rules were rewritten. The A310, reimagined for another era.
