Twisted Metal

What happens when you take a car and forget the rules of car design? Lexus handed two electrified vehicles to Brooklyn art collective MSCHF to find out. Firstly, a Lexus RZ 450e becomes ‘Circle Car’, stretched nose-to-tail into an impossible loop, and then secondly an RX 450h+ is transformed into ‘Twisted Car’, its body seemingly liquified and pulled into a dramatic spiral.

MSCHF calls them ‘Form Cars’ rather than concept cars: sculptures built to suggest movement rather than actually deliver it. Drawing on the squash-and-stretch language of 3D animation, the project turns familiar production cars into surreal physical objects.
