Royal Bloodline

Unveiled at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the Maserati MC12 was introduced as a companion to the Ferrari Enzo, marking Maserati's triumphant return to the world of racing after a 37-year hiatus. Limited to a production of just 50 road-legal units, the MC12 is a true rarity, surpassing even the exclusivity of the Enzo, with which it shares numerous mechanical components. In fact, it's even more scarce than the highly esteemed McLaren F1. This extraordinary exclusivity, combined with its racing heritage, echoes the investment appeal once embodied by the F1, which saw its value soar from around £1 million to well over £10 million in a mere decade.

The MC12, with its Ferrari Enzo-derived core, including the potent F140B V12 engine and the groundbreaking F1 gearbox known as the ‘Maserati Cambiocorsa,’ is not merely a financial proposition. Its redesigned carbon fibre bodywork, meticulously refined in wind tunnels, bestows upon it a distinctive aesthetic. With a body that extends a foot longer than the Enzo and broader wings, it was a painstaking effort to master the wind, granting the MC12 an imposing presence and exceptional aerodynamic prowess. A notable departure from the Enzo lies in the MC12's removable roof, a feature that enhances the driving experience by providing a visceral connection to the roaring V12 engine.

The Ferrari Enzo, named in honour of the legendary founder of the marque, represents a pinnacle of automotive design and engineering from the early 21st century. Infused with the insights of Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, the Enzo was a marvel of its era, boasting a newly developed 6.0 litre V12 engine that catapulted it from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds. Its design, a homage to Ferrari's triumphant F2002 Formula 1 car, and its limited production of 400 units, underline its collector's appeal.

These two renowned supercars from the 2000s share more than just a familial connection under the Fiat umbrella. They symbolize a rare convergence of racing heritage, engineering excellence, and aesthetic allure. These exceptional examples are now available through Romans International, both originating from a noteworthy UK collection and remaining in pristine, ‘as-new’ condition with delivery mileage. Remarkably, their value has nearly doubled over the last five years, all without even being driven.
