F50 lockdown

These images were born out of time spent in lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Matt Ben Stone, a London-based photographer, had no access to his studio set-up, or a Ferrari for that matter, during the early stages of lockdown in the UK, but he was determined to keep shooting.

These incredible images of the Ferrari F50 are a result of that. The shots were created using a scale model of the car and then setting up a homemade studio resembling that for a full size car shoot.

“I had the intention of wanting the shots to feel as if they could be a real car, with that iconic silhouette and huge rear wing. At first glance you might not realise until you take into consideration the playful name of the project, ‘Fun – not to scale,’” Matt explains. “Each angle and shot were treated as if the car was full size, crafting how the lighting would bounce and reflect off certain panels and curves – just scaled down, using the same lighting techniques and tools with a mixture of hard and diffused light sources and post production common with a full size shoot.”
