Ayrton Senna's record-breaking Monaco Grand Prix car

This 1993 McLaren-Ford MP4/8A Formula 1 car is the very machine with which the late three-times World Champion, Ayrton Senna, scored the record-breaking sixth and last of his historic race victories at the Monaco Grand Prix. It would also prove to be the brilliant Brazilian's last McLaren – after driving for them through six action-packed and dramatically successful seasons which saw him win the Formula 1 Drivers' World Championship title in 1988, 1990 and 1991.

Ayrton Senna is widely regarded as having been absolutely the most charismatic Grand Prix driver of the modern era, and this individual McLaren-Ford MP4/8A is the car with which his team, McLaren International, albeit temporarily, surpassed Ferrari as the most successful team in Formula 1 World Championship history.

Bonhams will be offering this very car at their upcoming Monaco sale on the 11th May. For more information on this and other vehicles at the sale, click on the link below. Photos courtesy of Bonhams.
